This year we return with our popular Wine & Theatre Tours
Due to 2018’s high demand we have increased our offering to 5 nights throughout the summer!
This special event takes us to Polgoon Vineyard & Orchard, near Penzance, where you will experience a full tour through the vines and the winery and see firsthand how they produce their award-winning wine and cider, as well as hearing about their history and how they came to be. Followed by a guided tasting of their wines and a beautifully prepared platter of local delights for dinner.
You will then be taken to the Minack – a breathtaking, open-air theatre at Porthcurno near Lands End, to watch one of their special summer performances. You’ll be sat on the cliffside, looking out at the Atlantic while watching the sunset in the background – it really is quite magical.
Once the show has finished, you will then be returned to Padstow (or near surrounding area) safely, meaning that the whole evening can be yours to enjoy without the worry of the drive from Lands End to home. It also means you can indulge in the wine tasting, and perhaps enjoy a glass or two at the Minack while watching the show – what can be better?!
*The tours approx timings are 3.00pm pick-up and 11.30pm drop-off*
Thursday 25th April – “The Vicar of Dibley – The Second Coming”
A theatre adaptation taken from the hilarious, much loved, British television series, that follows the antics of Geraldine Granger and her parishioners. Laugh out loud comedy!
Monday 27th May – “Sister Act”
Performed by ‘BROS Theatre Company’, a leading South-West London theatre amateur organisation. The Minack 2019 production of Sister Act will coincide with the 10th Anniversary, almost to the day, from the Original London Production! Whilst the story for Sister Act is based on the popular 1992 film, this hit musical includes none of the original music and in its place has, at its heart, a truly magnificent score by the Tony and Oscar award-winning Alan Menken. An amazing line up of talent – one not to be missed!
Monday 1st July – “A Perfect World”
Performed by the amazing Cornish ‘Miracle Theatre Company’. A rollicking music filled adventure! Is this tranquil place the best of all possible worlds? Or is it all too good to be true? ‘A Perfect World’ is a brand new action-packed adventure following a feisty young woman as she ventures into a Boy’s Own world of undiscovered jungles, treasure maps, campfires and penknives. Leading her quarrelsome explorers she stumbles into a bountiful paradise, whose inhabitants seem entirely peaceful, productive and fulfilled.
Monday 22nd July – “Romeo & Juliet”
A much loved classic, written by Shakespeare. You may have seen it before, but with the dramatic backdrop provided by the Minack Theatre you won’t have quite seen it like this.
Tuesday 27th August – “The Government Inspector”
Adapted from Gogol’s satirical and eccentric comedy, the plot inspired one of Fawlty Towers’ most iconic episodes, and this adaptation of the original truly sparkles. The unscrupulous Mayor of a small Russian town in the middle of nowhere is horrified to discover that he and his shady cronies are to be visited by a government official, travelling incognito. Corruption is rife and their infighting and jockeying for position is manic; plots to bribe him with vodka and wads of roubles spiral into an epic frenzy. The result is chaotic mayhem and masses of comedic delight!
