I am regularly asked, “Can we bring our dogs on the wine tour?”, and as unfortunate as it is, we cannot accept any dogs (apart from assistance) due to the places we visit on the tour. Not everywhere on our itinerary allows our furry friends, and it wouldn’t be fair to them to leave them in our bus. Plus we have to be mindful that not everybody loves dogs as much as us, and so we have to respect all passengers on the tour.
It left me with a bit of a quandary as to what to do, considering that Padstow is now such a ‘dog friendly’ location for visitors, and I don’t want to exclude such a large proportion of people coming to the area – after all, dog owners deserve wine too!
It got me chatting to my friend Tina who owns and runs Padstow Dog Boutique and whose parents own Padstow Pet Care and she told me all about how reasonable their rates were to take care of your dog for the entire day.
Padstow Pet Care is set on 13 acres of secure, rural countryside just on the outskirts of Padstow. Your pooch will be treated to a long walk, one to one care, as well as being in a home environment: in short – they’ll be treated like one of the family!
This means that you can drop off your four-legged friend at 9am for the duration of the day while we go about enjoying ourselves on a Cornish Wine Tour, safe in the knowledge that they are being cared for.
As an extra bonus, you could treat your dog to a bit of pampering at the same time and book them in with Tina for a nice bath and a groom, so they return to you smelling of roses!
Prices for day care services start at £15 for the day. Arrangements can also be made for your dog to be dropped back to your accommodation once we have returned from the wine tour.
I hope this reassures the dog owners amongst you that a Cornish Wine Tour isn’t out of bounds while you are on holiday, should you be bringing your pets.
